Lexus ES 300h Dashboard Lights
The Lexus ES 300h is the hybrid edition of the stylish ES 300 sedan, with two fast electric motors and a powerful 2.5-liter engine. While driving this car, you may notice lights turn on in the dashboard.
These dashboard lights are often pointing you toward valuable information you should be paying attention to. Yes, it can be something simple like the high beams or turn signals being activated, but also more important items that may require maintenance. As you travel through White Plains, Yonkers, and Scarsdale, keep these dash symbols in mind.
Check Engine Light
“Why is my check engine light on?” It’s a question we hear from drivers, pretty much every day. The real answer to the question is that it could be just about anything. It may be an ES 300h emissions-related issue, or it could be something minor like a loose gas cap.
As long as the light is solid, the system is letting you know of a potential concern. Should the dashboard light remain on in subsequent trips, it’ll be time to bring your vehicle in to our Lexus service center. When the light is flashing, it means something more serious could be affecting the engine, and an immediate trip to the service center is needed.
Brake Pad Light
Brake pads help the Lexus ES 300h… brake. It’s really that simple. But when brake pads are worn down, they’ll need to be replaced so you’re able to brake safely. If you see this light, which is shaped like a circle with three dashes on either side, brake pads need replacement.
It depends on how you drive, but in general, brake pads need replacement every 40,000-50,000 miles. Some will last longer, particularly if you drive on the highway a lot and don’t brake. Do a lot of city driving? They may need replacement sooner. Schedule a service appointment for assistance.
Coolant Light
This is also known as the temperature warning light. When the engine temperature is higher than it should be, this light will turn on. If the light is red, pull over and turn the car off, letting it cool down for at least 15 minutes or so.
Use the owner’s manual to find instructions on how to check coolant levels and how to add coolant if needed. If the light is blue, it means coolant levels are too low. There may be a leak.
Brake Light
The brake light is capable of letting you know a few things. It will be on if the emergency brake is activated. Make sure this is always deactivated before driving.
If the dashboard light is on and the emergency brake is already released, there could be an issue with the brake system. This is an issue that should receive attention as soon as possible at a Lexus service center.
