Lexus GS 350 Dashboard Symbols
As you drive the roads of Yonkers, White Plains and Scarsdale in your 2018 Lexus GS 350, you may notice a light in the dashboard area turn on. So, what does that dashboard symbol mean? What is it trying to tell you?
The team at Lexus of White Plains can answer that important question. Our service professionals are here to help when a dashboard light turns on. If you don’t have access to your owner’s manual or just want some further information, read on to learn more about these lights.
Check Engine Light
This light is shaped like the engine and is important to keep an eye on if it lights up. When the check engine light comes on, it could mean the engine in your GS 350 is misfiring. This could cause long-term damage to the engine if the issue is not looked at.
As long as the light is solid, it could be an electrical system issue or even a more minor concern like the gas cap being loose. If the light doesn’t turn off after a couple of times of starting the car, bring your car to our service center.
ABS Warning Light
If the dashboard shows a light with the letters “ABS” lit up, the ABS warning light is on. This indicates that the ABS brakes or the brake system might be malfunctioning. If the light has turned on, the brake assist system may have been deactivated, which can make it tough to stop the car if you have to brake quickly or on slippery surfaces.
If the light is still on the next time the car is turned on, our service professionals will find the root of the issue.
Brake System Warning Light
If an all-caps “BRAKE” light comes on, accompanied by a buzzing noise, this indicates a potentially serious issue with the brake system. The brake fluid level might be too low, which could cause the vehicle to skid or slide when tapping the brakes. It’s also possible the brake system could be malfunctioning.
If this light comes on with the buzzing sound, pull over in a safe spot as soon as possible and turn the car off. Call our service center for further guidance.
Tire Pressure Warning Light
When this light turns on, it looks like an exclamation point surrounded by parentheses. When low tire pressure is detected, this light will turn on. It could be a natural reaction to the weather, as a sharp drop in temperature can mean a loss of pressure, or related to a flat tire.
Adjust the inflate pressure to the level specified by your owner’s manual. This info can also be found inside the door jamb of the car, or inside the glove box. If the light doesn’t turn off even after adding air to the tires, there may be a slow leak or debris that has punctured the tire. We’ll be happy to see if we can repair the tire for you.
